New Technology Innovation Hub to Open in Al Ain

Now all businesses’ focus is on new technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud.
Considering this, there a community space and a new educational facility will be started soon in Al Ain, where they offer free classes on technology and digital information to the community.

The Innovation Hub will be built at the United Arab Emirates university campus’s Science and Innovation Park, which is being developed by Al Bayt Mitwahid Association, a community development organisation established by the employees of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, in association with Google and Abu Dhabi education Council (Adec). The facility is expected to unveil by the end of this year.

Adec director general, Dr Ali AI Nuaimi said “Technology is transforming society at its core, and such a project will allow young individuals to learn about [important concepts like] coding, and improve their overall knowledge on technology,” at a signing ceremony that was happened between AI Bayt Mitwahid, the University and Adec. And according to a statistics they discussed about at the ceremony, 65 percent of mobile users in Abu Dhabi are aged 25 years or younger.

The facility will offer regular classes and workshops related to the mobile app development, especially about Android app development in a space known as the app factory. They can accommodate about 80 students at a time and they also have plan to have six sessions per day. They will also provide coding classes on the web, machine learning, and virtual reality for people who aged between 16 and 24 years and also classes on 3D printing, laser cutting, and robotics for people who are aged between 8 and 16. In future, it may extend the courses to include teachers and other adult learners.

Selim Edde, Head of public policy and government relations for Google in the North Africa region, said “At Google, we are always excited to see children experiment with technology at an early age because this helps them to develop a passion for it, and use it to solve challenges later in life. With the fast-paced adoption of the internet and mobile app in the Middle East and North Africa, the region needs more young active contributors to technology, especially in areas like machine learning”.
